Default No Claim today.. Both scratched!

The 2 horses that Chuck was considering for claim today in the KEE 3rd have been scratched!

#6 General Purpose and #7 Diamond Studded were the pair Chuck had considered, and he made his way to Lexington this morning to eyeball them. Once there, he found out neither would be going in the $16,000 plating affair...

On to Wednesday's card, where the 5th and 9th races both have interesting potential $25k taggers...

That's actually good news to me because I was looking at what was left in that race and wasn't excited about claiming any of the runners that will go to post.

Good luck Wednesday.

Pretty well looking to claim or make a private buy.. We want one that's running now.

Hopefully, we get who we want in the 5th. I like the idea of claiming a filly, rather than a gelding or a low-class colt... for residual value.

Any thoughts given to trying to find a Cali horse that hasn't taken to the synthetics and might benefit from a move back to the dirt? Or is that just too impractical for our operation without having Chuck out there and the post claim cross country ship? Just seems like there is an angle there that no one is really taking advantage of.

Not a bad idea but not practical on our budget

C'mon, Chuck, you could claim the next Lava Man. Although I suppose on our budget, he'd have to be the next Lava Boy....

If I had to guess...the ones he's looking at in the 5th are - Chippewa Court & Classic Emily
and in the 9th - Mithaal & Liquoreux. Cocesse Chief also looks interesting. Apt to Be is a "hard hitter" but 10 is too old!

I had to laugh when I read this because I am so guilty of always thinking the grass is greener when you claim somewhere other than where you are running.

I used to drive my trainer crazy trying to get her to go to other racetracks to claim something. We'd always end up claiming at home, and somehow made it work.....

Well this isn't as much the grass is greener as it is the dirt aint dirt. They have none of it to run on out west and there are surely horses out there that are best on that surface and are being dipped into claimers cause of their inability to run well on turf or synthetics.

The trick is being able to identify ones that just cant handle the non dirt tracks from the ones that are simply tailing off.

not to mention that there is plenty of fake dirt around here too (with TP, KEE ARL and PID) and probably more on the way.....

Yeah, certainly wouldn't be an easy angle and you'd need some bankroll for it to work cause it is inevitable you'll wind up with a few that did just tail off.
