The funny thing of course is that Evening Attire has run in this race before....and finished second......behind Macho Uno. That is how long this old guy has been running.
I think Funny Cide finished second in this race a few years ago too....but I can't remember who won that year.

Shouldn't we all be cheering for a Fairbanks blowout victory in a 110+ Beyer to draw a lot of money come BC Day on a horse we will all toss? And really it isn't that farfetched, the field sucks and the figure makers won't be afraid to give him a good figure if he wins big again against another field that sucks.

Even if he crushes, will he really draw a lot of money in the BC?

Of course, if he opts for the Dirt Mile, it might be a different story...

He won't be a favorite but even if he draws 8-1 or 10-1 we just need another horse or two to feel solid in having already beat the takeout.

Oh, and people are overrating the draw of the Dirt Mile, it will be Corinthian, Wanderin Boy, and a bunch of other horses that want nothing to do with 10 furlongs or 6.

Fair enough. As far as Corinthian goes, is he really a horse with distance limitations or did he just go horribly off form in the Suburban? In that respect, if he doesn't improve, he should be no count in the Dirt Mile, too.

I didn't see his Woodward, but I think I read that he made a middle move and hung, so maybe he's also just not that good.

He hung, but Lawyer Ron looked like he was on a bullet train compared to the rest of them in that field. Its not fair to look at that race and say he "hung". He put in a nice move, but it wasnt enough. I dont think we can put the distance tag on him yet.....

He broke very poorly, was the only one that threatened Lawyer Ron on the turn and then tired late to finish fourth. He's not good enough for the Classic but shouldn't have a problem in the Dirt Mile as long as the monster in Royal Blue doesn't show up and bring his 'A' game. I just don't believe that the Dirt Mile is going to be a big draw that is going to suck away all these Classic horses like others think. More likely it will be the horses that would have just skipped the Classic anyways. If it ever becomes a G1 then that would be a huge disaster that would have exactly the same ramifications that all the Chicken Little's have projected. Until then it is just an undercard race with a souped up purse that isnt going to stop people from going for the big prize.
