No Not an idiot. Actually good point. But as some of the others said, when it is home it's home and people want to come back.
And don't believe all you see on CNN or any other media. Parts of the city are coming back. You should plan a trip to THE Fairgrounds when sumwon is here.

Other than the Spa..it's one of my favorite places to play the horses. That long stretch provides many thrilling finishes. Maybe I'll have to overcome what I've "heard" about the area and pay a visit sometime.

You should... I'm going and am planning to stay in the French Quarter. I can't wait.

Well you should. I'll even give you a tour. Tourists don't know the good spots.
Yes The Fairgounds does provide thrilling races, Especially the stretch. And we have a great jockey colony, good horses and barns, lots of colorful characters and a ball at the Paddock bar.
BTW the French Quarters has a new waste managament team they even spray the streets with perfume now so it's cleaner and smells prettier. But it still is a bawdy laissez la faire town.

I think we're going to book one of these hotels (Prince Conti or Hotel St. Marie)... have you heard of them?
