What the heck is Cahokia Downs?

Another great question.
I've never been there, but I know that the Cahokia lived on the east bank of the Mississippi (mound builders). Across from St Louis.
Down? I think that comes from ducks or geese.

It was/is in Illinois..closed back in the late 70's or early 80's.

I wish I understood these poster ratings systems. Cahokia freaking Downs trumps Suffolk Downs which is a spot above Pimlico?

Cahokia Downs was a track in Illinois that had mostly claimers. It closed in 1979.
