get your seats ahead of time. info for them is on AP's website, arlingtonpark.com

The hotel right next to the track is a Sheraton and is definitely walking distance from the track.

If you want to be in the 2nd level (reserved/box seats), I'd personally recommend the box seats in section F or G. F ($60) is 1 section closer to the finish line than G, but G ($40) is right in front of the jumbotron. The clubhouse box seats ($75) would be near the finish line.

Any 2nd level seat is a good place to watch the race from.

Hilton Northbrook is worth the 5 minute drive. Sheraton is kinda run down and costs more.

5 minutes from Northbrook to AP? Maybe by rocketship. Not in any car I've seen.

You drive fast, maybe too fast. It takes me 20 minutes from Glenview on a good day.

I stayed in that Sheraton, and thought it was plenty nice.

However for the price of cabs these days, you're better off looking for a rental car on Priceline or Travelocity - often as low as $15/day.
