Stanley Cup - I didn't even realize...

I was just looking through the main headlines on MSNBC.com, and saw a headline that said that the Mighty Ducks were only 2 wins away from their first Stanley Cup. Funny thing is, I didn't even realize that they were in the championship series for that sport on ice.

Is hockey really that small of a sport? I mean, I honestly knew NOTHING about it, and I don't think I live under a rock. Maybe I do, or maybe my disinterest in the sport is just that great, or maybe the coverage of the sport is just that small.

What do you think?

I've noticed that since I've dropped my subscription to the local newspaper and switched to relying on the internet for news that I miss a lot of "peripheral" news. I used to read the sports page cover to cover "just because it was there". Now I only get the sports news that I'm most interested in (not on purpose, it just seems to work out that way). I follow hockey, and I know what is going on in the Stanley Cup playoffs, but I'm not really aware of what is happening in the NBA playoffs.
