I used to work for a commercial breeding farm and they never named a foal...the reason being that naming it is one of the most fun parts of buying/owing a horse (apart from winning of course).

yes...but many think it's bad luck to change a horse's name.

Nah that's for a boat or ship, not a horse. So I'mawildandcrazyguy would've won the Derby if he'd remained Cupcake Melee?

That would have put fear into the other jockeys. Cupcake would have demolished them all.
