![]() I was right that they were trying to hide Squires Wingman's speed. They were working him a mile in 1:43. In the race today he got the lead in :21 2/5. He ran huge buth the favorite was just too good. I was worried that the favorite might be too good, but he was a long-striding who looked like he may want to run a little longer and he was 3-5. I thought it was worth trying to beat him.

![]() I thought the quality was very good at both sales this year. There were a lot of really good horses. My favorite horse at the Barrett's Sale was the same as everyone else's. It was the Officer colt that Darley bought for $1.4 million.
