Lately their summaries have been useless

I have been doing better without. I hate when I let their Prime Power rating convince me to single a horse. Yesterday I quit looking at the damn things and got some of my money back.

Next week I may do better by not going
I use Bris religiously. I feel like I would be blind without it. Mainly I use the pace and speed numbers. Sometimes I find the Class numbers useful, but not so often.

I never even look at the Prime Power ratings, they are useless. they might help a beginner to point them in the right direction. But an experienced handicapper should be making his/her own assessments.

This is the way that I use them as well.

And AE, you will do better next week, or take a couple of Saturdays off. Do something else! Come back to it.

I really like Bris Ultimates and use the summary to for track profile and to take a quick look at run styles and pace scenarios. The one thing I really don't like is they average the figures on "Race Summary" to encompass the last three races. This produces a very misleading number as it lumps everything together including off track and turf races. Also, it won't help at all when looking for horses on the improve. They do isolate mud speed on another column and seeing the pedigree info comparison is helpful to me when going that route.

I have to agree with not using the summary. It stears you to easily to a horse. I cap first and then use them to seperate some close choices or down load premium plus which does not even have them.

My real gripe is the ink and paper I use over the course of the year. I heard once someone in Boston developed a flexible screen that was the size of a newspaper. If I could download to that and save the money for ink & paper, I'd have a whole lot more money!!

Surely you have a laser printer. That's a help, even still, cartridges are far more expensive than ink.

I'm a long time BRIS user...the ultimate PP's work well for me...the recently added feature that shows the "pace relative to par" is a feature that I find very useful...I also find the Current Class rating to be more useful than the Prime Power Rating... Imho there is no holy grail however, you still gotta spend some time handicapping...and even then...a lot of things have to go right for a horse to win...only one or two things have to go wrong for a horse to lose...ain't this a great game...

BRIS confuses me most of the time, though I've never really put in the time to try to understand their figures a whole lot -- ie, how the pace figures E1 E2 Late pace, blah blah. I need a real-life tutorial. I've never been able to really get a grasp based on reading their explanation.

For instance, in yesterday's Lousiana Derby, Liquidity's last two good finishes (close seconds to Stormello and Ravel) were accomplished by running close to slow paces and hanging on. Made one wonder what would happen if he encountered a strong or even average pace; certainly made him more of a question mark than one would think from the odds.
