Santa Anita Trip

Was just out at Santa Anita a couple of weeks ago. I have gone out every year either in Feb. or Mar. for the past ten years. I typically stay within walking distance to the track and go over to clocker's corner for morning workouts and then back to the races in the afternoon. There are a number of very nice restaurants along the main drag in Monrovia which is the next suburb just east of Arcadia where the track is located. The street is named Myrtle and it runs norh-south and is about a five minute drive from the track. This year I wanted to include some winetasting in the trip. It is roughly a two and a half hour drive from Arcadia to Solvang which takes you to the area where the movie Sideways was filmed. If you want to do this, you will need to stay overnight to appreciate the area, beautiful scenery and some wonderful wines. Weather should be great in April.
