![]() Bob Baffert was not at fault. It is not like he is inconspicuous. He is the white-haired trainer of several Derby winners already. CD screwed the pooch on this one. The security for the paddock of the Derby should have walkie-talkies to the management staff. This shouldn't have been more than a "Baffert has an extra." Management says " let him the hell in then!"
Even at the level I am involved in this game and the horror thaat is Magna. We have brought up to 8 people to a free 4 person luch when you run in a listed stakes and they comp it all. For twice the allowed number of people. CD should have kissed Baffert's a$$ for even making him upset at the Derby. If I am Baffert, next time I have a super horse and the racing secretary from CD calls him up to see if I'll run in their race, I wouldn't even answer the phone. |

Sometimes you got to have a little class and think about the position some people are put in while doing the jobs they have been told to do. Thats civility and courteous. |

Doing the job they were told to do? Baffert was much too kind, he only ripped the badge off the jerk. I woulda been zippin' up my fly after I p i s s e d on him. For $500...I'd still be smilin'! ![]() |

![]() Pgardn,
You obviously have not been in charge of getting head counts for folks you know who are going to show up at a race. They sneak out of work and didn't let you know or they bring a co-worker(boss) to the race. The responsibility is on the track to kiss the owners and trainers a$$es. The owners and trainers are the customers of the track. Without the owners and trainers there would be no track. The customer is always right! You, my friend need to get off your high horse and understand the facts. Having class is saying good luck to the other owners and trainers and then accepting the outcome of the race in a dignified manner--WIN or LOSE. |

Saying its the tracks fault does not give one the right to pick on some guy that is just doing what he is told to do. It may be track managements fault. But how in God's name does ripping the badge and shoving some dude who is told do this job this way? How does this solve the immediate situation? Its like yelling at the airline ticket pass people because the airline itself made a mistake. The person behind the desk is not responsible for the screwed up management or computer glitch. And it is ridiculous to sit there and yell at someone who has not control over the situation. Its very typical of people that dont have a clue about another persons job, and if they do, they really dont care and take their frustrations out on THE WRONG PERSON. |

My guess is that it was "high stress" day for all concerned. The rent-a-cop coulda used his walkie talkie. Baffert coulda been more courteous. Seems to me that this thing got out of hand way too fast. So, $500 and an apology ends it...ok. |

That is the problem. Baffert wasn't thinking of the little guy. But then again this country lets OJ get away with murder, MJ with child abuse, etc... Why shouldn't Bob be able to get what he wants? IMO, Bob could have handled the situtation with more tact. I like the guy, but he could have went about the situation a different and I think that is why he is apologizing.

![]() More tact? Sure. Have you owned a horse? Do you know how frazzled you can get on race day. I ave seen people that don't smoke light up a whole pack. We can't have any idea what he was going through with three to saddle and three groups of owners to attend to. Again give the guy a break. CD's fault entirely.

It very well could be CD's fault. I have been frazzled and done things that I could have done more tactfully had I not been frazzled and running in circles. Just saying that Bob could have called someone or asked one of his numerous friends to handle the situation or many numerous other things. Not necessarily that he did anything wrong, but that he could have handled it differently. That is the reason he is apologizing.
