When I went to Turfway last year I went to the Longhorn Steakhouse afterward. It was very good. I went to Turfway in February. It was pretty cold out, so we didn't stay that long, but I enjoyed the racing while I was there.

Longhorn is very good -- right across the street. The chilli cheese fries are the bomb. A mountain of fries, topped by about a wheel of cheddar, chili, plus my favorite bacon bits. You can actually feel your arteries harden while you eat it. It's good stuff.

The Mexican place across the parking lot -- Tumbleweeds gets a lot of the backstretch workers and such. Food isn't really too hot.

On track food there is OK. Turfway got rid of the contract food service and hired their own people. Haven't checked out the restaurant but the burgers are pretty good. Nice and greasy. Almost as greasy as a "Beulah Burger". Man, the burgers at Beulah are the greasiest. Good -- but the last time I had one it was actually tough to hold on to. The grease soaked through the bun and the damn thing kept poppling outta my hands like a char-broiled watermelon seed. And more you tried to grip it the more it was likely to pop out. Good though. I bet those Beulah twins porked out on those Beulah Burgers. I know why they put on the pounds.

I wish I had a Beulah Burger right now. One of the twins wouldn't be bad either . . . or both.

Long Horn is really good. If you like Italian there is a restaurant named Carlo's real close to the track. There's also a Hooter's within a mile or two of the track.

Now I'm dying for a rare filet.

We dont need to worry about any injury on the track today, they cancelled again. Said icy. I was halfway to TWP, didnt see a snowflake, must be real bad up there. Maybe they meant the track was icy, I should have asked
