The jockeys may not have cancelled the performace, but they were not going to ride.

NYRA made the decision to cancel, in part because of the weather, but if the jocks aren't going to ride the weather is irrelevant.

I suppose that works both ways, but it was not a weather decision alone on NYRA's part.

The jockeys refusal to ride was not based on weather or track conditions. It was based purely on the hospital issue.

We are well aware of the hospital issue, and it has been discussed at length on this board and ATRAB, but the Sunday card was NOT cancelled because the riders refused to ride, as you stated. The jockeys were not involved in the decision to cancel the Sunday card.

Oh yes, and nobody was aware of the weather.

NYRA itself acknowledges that their decision was based in part because of the weather, in part because of the hospital issue.

The jockeys only had one reason to not ride, the hospital issue. There would have been no racing at AQU if the weather was 70 and sunny without the hospital issue being resolved.

What I took exception to was your inaccurate statement that racing was cancelled Sunday because the jockeys refused to ride. That is simply not true. They were, in fact, surprised when they heard Sunday's races had been cancelled.

Whether or not the riders would have ridden Sunday had NYRA not cancelled the card is pure speculation.

Well, I didn't exactly say that racing was cancelled sunday because the jockeys refused to ride. I said the jockeys refused to ride. I did not speculate on why racing was cancelled, or who cancelled it.

I'm new here, so I'm a little unaware of how informed the forum in general was regarding the hospital issue, which would be the only obstacle to racing on Wednesday.

I also probably misinterpreted your initial post that hinted that the only reason not to run Wendnesday would be weather related. This is why I brought up the hospital issue in the first place.

No problem.

This site is hosted by Steve Byk, who is also one of the hosts of ATRAB, and this issue was discussed at length on that show today.
