It was very tempting to take a shot at the all graded stakes Rainbow Pick 6, but I just couldn't find a race in the sequence on which I could take a stand and single - my ticket just was not going to fit into our budget. I suspect that there will be a carryover today and that the jackpot on the mandatory payout day tomorrow will grow to a very large number.

You couldn't single the 10 in the big race? Just kidding. I don't blame you for that. His last race was a head scratcher for sure. I was hoping that 8 horse would stay in the race to provide an honest pace thinking that maybe Fierceness just didn't get a fast enough pace to prevail last time out.

I did put Fierceness on top in this and a couple of other contests I'm playing, but with very little confidence. I believe that he is the most talented runner in the race, but it seems to depend on which Fierceness happens to show up on race day. If it the one who dominated in the BC Juvenile, he wins in a romp. If it is the one who threw in a clunker in the Champagne and was lackluster at best in the Holy Bull, then I suppose that race will go to Hades, or perhaps to Conquest Warrior if he can handle the class hike and continues to improve.

Fierceness seems to need everything to go his way, and hasn't yet shown the ability to shrug off adversity. so far, my money will be elsewhere on Derby Day.

I didn't feel very confident either. I bet a minuscule superfecta. Probably no chance super, but you never know. I was just watching a race at OP. Baffert had the 3/5 fave and it looked like it would romp, but ran 3rd. Might be a bad omen for my bets in the big race at OP.

Very convincing. I'll have to go back and watch it again to see, but I don't think Johnny V. even had to hit him once, unless it was at the break. Oaklawn was as I expected, the Baffert show, but Timber Lake was the one that didn't look so good. Mystic Dan showed up at the end. There was a horse that bolted and interfered with some of the runners. Don't know whether Dan was part of that or not. The camera was on the leaders and I couldn't see the interference. All in all, it was a pretty entertaining day. Not a ton of money made, but very distracting from the usual worries. I was giving my granddaughter some picks for Oaklawn. I think she won more than I did. That's OK, I wouldn't have it any other way.
