Thank you Ruff. For me, California Dreaming right now would include sitting in the Yosemite Valley and looking up at Half Dome, gazing up at the giant and ancient trees in Sequoia National Park, or just watching the seals play around Morro Bay near the Big Sur. Or perhaps just listening to the old Mamas and Papas song with the volume turned way up.

Now I've gotta find a venue for Saturday on relatively short notice......

Churchill seems the obvious choice, if it's not closed down which apparently has not happened or surely we would know at this late date.

Talking about California makes me think about my adventurous nephew. He has climbed a mountain out there in Yosemite called El Capitan. I say climbed, but that may not be entirely true. He attempted to climb it and fell and subsequently had to be evacuated by helicopter to a hospital. Survived that, but I am not sure he will ever completely recover. Still does adventurous things. At the moment he and a friend are attempting to walk across Arizona from West to East. I have driven that route several times, but if someone said I would have to walk it, I would say just shoot me now.

For those that have Disney + there is a nature series on America's National Parks that features the Redwoods and also shows on Yellowstone and the Badlands of the Dakotas. Fascinating stuff. Sort of reminds me of those old Disney shows The Vanishing Prairie and The Living Desert. Haven't thought about those shows in a while. Might not have the titles right.

There is no question in my mind that the number of stakes races at Churchill, each of which seem to be a prep for a companion race on Stephen Foster Day, would make that the best venue for our Saturday contest. Some of the fields are on the smaller side, but you can't have everything.

I have been holding off declaring a venue since I understand that HISA reviews of the recent number of equine fatalities at CD is continuing into today. The reports I have read suggest that the likelihood of suspending racing seems to be remote unless deficiencies in the racing surface are disclosed. Still, I didn't want to announce a venue only to have to change it after all of you have started your work.

My plan is to wait until close to first post at CD today (which will be a 5:00 Eastern) to post our venue. If they decide that the surface is safe enough for racing today, I'm fairly confident that they will feel the same way for Saturday.
At present, I'm leaning very strongly toward some postion of the CD card.

Just wanted to let those who like to get an early start know the reason for my slowness.
