Let's say that the actual return on a show bet was $1.48577. The payoff under the old breakage would be $1.40 for $1, so your $2 show wager would be $2.80. Under the new method the bettor would get $1.48 for every dollar, or a payoff of $2.96 for your $2 show bet. Viva la difference. I'm more than happy to keep the extra change that the track has been pocketing all these years. While you can advocate a boycott of Churchill for our contests, we do need to remember that this rule is the result of legislation passed by the Kentucky General Assembly and applies to all Kentucky tracks. I'm sure that we will want to play Keeneland this fall, especially for the two days of the Breeders' Cup. |

I never advocated a “ boycott “ here I was merely expressing my frustration as a scorekeeper with the new system And just that I hope personally I don’t have to play at that track too often It had nothing to do with this website or the contests Sorry if the wording was misunderstood or misinterpreted |

Ruff, no apology is needed. I didn't read your post as critical of the website or our contests. All is good. I did want to point out that the new penny breakage rule applies to every Kentucky track, and we often visit Kentucky Downs for Kentucky Cup Day as well as Keeneland during its fall meet. I'm sure we will encounter this rule during the Breeders' Cup at Keeneland.
I'm afraid that Real Quiet will have to recalibrate his abacus (I'll be glad to loan him my Curta) to score the ROI with penny breakage for all of those Kentucky race days. |

I for one welcome the extra cash in my pocket. I mean I would if I ever hit a winning wager. Decimal and pennies are easy to calculate since I use a 2022 Intel Celeron Abacus running Windows 47. A lot of superfecta winning wagers are paid in pennies anyway.

I could be wrong, but I thought I heard years ago that the breakage from Oaklawn either went to the city or the county. If so, I imagine there would be some loud and long howling, if that was taken away. Glad somebody explained that. I was wondering why the payoffs were so strange.
