They're eligible. The statute included any entity that had a racing license within 15 years. It was written that way with GSP in mind.

Looks like all the OTB's are eligible in PA as well... What's up with Atlantic City Race Course? Any plans to re-open or run something there..Would take some deep pockets to get that place up to speed so guessing not much chance?

In the final years of the six-day (or so) turf meets (end April/early May), I was lucky enough to get to ACRC three or four times. I can only imagine how wonderful it must have been during the glory years of their t-bred racing. The saddling area under the rear grandstand, the walking ring, the jockey's quarters, and that DEEP slightly sloped grandstand! How can you forget walking UP to the grandstand apron? I still cannot picture in my mind's eye (although have seen pictures) how that ACRC supported their harness meeting.

Another example where we try so hard to reach back and touch something from racing's past. Sadly however, whether ACRC or GSP-land get a sports betting venue is completely a business discussion since the legal issues were presorted.

Good knowledge there, Steve.

Another way to look at it is that the Senate President in NJ is from South Jersey and lives about 20 minutes from the old Garden State Park. There was no way GSP was going to be excluded from that legislation.

I’m not sure how the language in the statute requiring the betting be done within the former racecourse oval impacts ACRC. Regardless, I don’t think we’ll see development there any time soon. Plenty of action is available right down the road in AC.
