Prior to the race, Equibase published the race conditions, which included purse distribution based on order of finish. The racing commission modified the order of finish without redistributing the monies accordingly. Their ruling represents an outcome at odds with the stated stakes race conditions.
To resolve this ethically, Equibase should remove all references the race conditions and the official order of finish. Only running information should be included in the chart. The race class should be changed from Stakes to Exhibition. The ones that lose out on black type may be hurt. But allowing that race to produce four black-type horses hurts all that earned it legitimately. |

Well that makes sense. The only thing that doesn't make sense is putting that horse back in. If it's in, you get the purse, if it's out you don't. You don't get black type. It should be a determination, not a negotiated settlement.

Servis was a very kind gentleman when he let me meet my favorite horse to date, Rockport Harbor, but let's call a spade a spade. He most likely receives special treatment from the 'powers that be' at Parx for his success in 3 of the most prestigious races on the calendar. I could be totally off-base, but who knows. Seems to fall in line with some other bullchit that goes on there on a regular basis.
