I like to think of him as Shmecke.

They only seemed bad as we were coming off some genuinely good horses. Compared to the dreck we see nowadays they were very good. We live in a world where people actually think English Channel is really good. 20 years ago he would have been lucky to have hit the board in a good turf stake.

That's true... they were slobs in comparison to Lure, Paradise Creek, Bien Bien etc..

Well not brutal, but I guess I never had much luck with any of those horses.
You know how some years you just have a division figured out and do well betting the particular races on that division and some years you just always miss?
That was one of the years I ALWAYS missed. I don't think I cashed a ticket on a grade one grass race that year.

Default Oracle

Bob Beinish wishes you all the best during the holidays.

For those of you who don't know who Bob is...he's the man who gave Mikey his nickname. He's also the only socially acceptable person to work for Ragozin.

His punishment? He sits next to me at work.

Give him by email if you would I would love to speak with him.

I think thats how people tend to remember divisions and years.
I had my best luck ever with the '94 3yo fillies. I made a huge hit on a Sardula-lakeway exacta. And then my biggest single race score ever when heavenly Prize beat Lakeway up here.
'98 three year olds drive me to insanity as an example, I never guessed right all year long with those. You know like you miss the wedding on a horse and then you give up and play him and you get to attend the funeral. 98 3Yo's and 96 grass horses sent me to lots of funerals.

Paradise Creek had an acceleration that would leave Eng Channel and Cacique 5 lengths behind in the blink of an eye. Those were the days.

Totally agree.... his 94 Manhattan was visually spectacular... 10F in 1:57.79 under a hold. It's too bad he couldnt relax in the BC...

And horses like Skip Away, Cigar and Holy Bull had heart and actually raced!

The 90's sure sucked for music but were great for horse racing.

Tim you missed that theme, we talked about it a few weeks ago.
I said Holy Bull would have left any of this years glory horses gasping for air.
He'd go 46 and change in a two turn route race and still kick away with another gear.

5 lengths? Are you kidding me? Try 15 lengths geared down. Those two horses couldnt run down the Tin man off that slow pace. How would they fare chasing a horse like paradise who would be goinng 15 lengths quicker under a snug hold?
