Sally Boynton Brown is from Boise, Idaho and is the executive director of the Democratic Party of Idaho. She announced her candidacy for chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on December 16, 2016.


“My job is to listen and be a voice,” Brown said, to cheers and applause. “My job is to shut other white people down when they want to interrupt. My job is to shut other white people down when they say, ‘Oh, no, I’m not prejudiced; I’m a Democrat; I’m accepting. My job is to make sure [white people] ‘get’ that they have privilege.”
