![]() My experience was based mainly from when Los Alamitos offered the twin tri back in 1992, here is a link to an L.A. times article from back then, http://articles.latimes.com/1992-02-...ecta-carryover
plus our local dog track in Idaho offered a twin quin and twin tri and tri-super that had split payouts. So like I said it is a different world now but that is what I remember. |

![]() Because a bettor could wager until post time of the 2nd leg the will pays could be shown as the exchange wagers come in and value could be realized as easily as it would be before the first leg.

![]() Definitely think it would be a great inclusion to the wagering menu, especially in the middle of the card. It would fit perfectly in between the early and late Pick Fours.
The Quinela Double has been an extremely popular wager for years at most Florida dog tracks and usually offers tremendous value.

![]() When people had to exchange winning tickets years ago, the tote was obviously less sophisticated, so clearly that would no longer be the case.
This bet would be a compromise for a bet I would prefer. There is no timetable, it is simply something we have discussed. Thanks for your input.

![]() I am very much intrigued, this is something i would definitely consider playing. Tip of the cap to NYRA, would love to hear any new ideas. Anything to keep things growing, especially for the players!

![]() The twin-quin and double-exacta ideas have both been played out at racetracks in history, but to be honest, Andy, I would like to see NYRA try to pioneer something in the way of a new bet. While the Grand Slam is interesting and fun (pick three straight show horses followed by a single race winner), I would like to see something constructed like they have in Hong Kong : pick two of the first three finishers to move onto the next leg.

![]() Thanks for asking for input, Andy. Some interesting ideas. Not sure if some of the structures would be feasible in today's world with so much ADW money. Some of these wagers were done at smaller tracks and before ADW's. Making two transactions on a multi-race bet could be more complex for both track and bettors for the money it's bringing in. I think twin quinellas, twin exacta's and twin tris could all work somewhat.
One of the nice things you have in NYRA is one of the largets labs in the country. The data from pools could show you pretty quickly what a new wager would do. Especially the effect on other pools and handle. I like the Grand Slam and will play it when at SAR. It seems to be popular with the crowd and especially smaller bankroll, occasional players. It gives you some wiggle room in 3 legs so has some forgiveness built in an lets people stay live in a multi-race wager without being perfect. It works much better with large fields and payouts can be good at SAR. It's not that attractive at BEL and AQU on smaĺler fields. Big day cards there it works good. I'm in PA and restricted by zip code to only 2 ADW's (Parx and Harrah's TVG-pabets) and neither of them offer the Grand Slam on NYRA. |
