Are you picking Crimison Saint because of her steller produce record...or do you really believe she be justified as an all-time fastest filly based upon what she did on the race track?

I've seen a lot of film of a lot of great fillies---but never seen any of her races. All I know, about her as a race horse is that she was 7-for-11 and made 91K with one graded stake win.

A horse like Spectacular Bid was 24-for-24 lifetime, between the distances of 7 furlong to 1 1/4 miles, setting MANY track records, and overcoming tremendous adversity in some of those wins (Florida Derby etc.) Yet, he was a rather weak stallion. Would you hold the fact that he was so bad in the breeding shed against him as a race horse?

I hope you aren't serious. You make your name on the racetrack. A great actor, president, doctor is as likely to have some mediocre kids as well. Do their accomplishments get diminished by their kids? Nonsense. There is nothing that can be taken away from Spec Bid.

Re-read my post again.

In my opinion, Spectacular Bid is arguably the greatest horse of all-time. Put it this way....if I ever had to vote for who I believe was the greatest horse ever...he would be the horse who gets my vote...albeit reluctantly.

I totally agree that horses should be judged based upon what they show on the race track....just as sires and broodmares should be judged based upon what they throw and prouduce in the breeding shed.

I remember Pine Tree Lane's debut. I believe it was at Aqueduct in the winter, but it may have been the Fall, and she was owned by Teddy Sabresse and trained by Parisella. Anyway, I was in the OTB on John Street, which was one of the first, if not the first, OTB in Manhattan to show a live video feed. The horses are going to the gate, and mind you this is late 1984 or early 1985, so late odds changes, especially substantial ones, were rare at best, and she went from 7-1 to 9-2.

They didn't even need to run the race.

Yeah Sabarese and Parisella had some run with fillies back then.
Cheap Seats, Jones Time Machine, Pine Tree Lane, Kamikaze Rick, etc.
