That horse was on the lead in a dirt sprint. Any reasonably competent jockey (i.e anyone who can get a jockey's license) should be able to get a quality horse around in good fashion in a dirt sprint, especially on the lead.

Turf routes are another matter entirely, especially if you are riding a closer. You need to be able to judge the pace effectively, not get stopped once you are moving, and then be willing to squeeze through a hole that is barely as wide as the horse you are riding.

Edgar was on two live mounts on the turf today, one where he re-rode the horse who is the topic of this thread, and then the second choice in the nightcap, and he lost badly un both, actually running dead last in the nightcap. Now of course it is certain that the horse is a major factor, but i don't think he can consistently succeed on the turf against this rider colony.
