I think its funny that your upset that people have cynical feelings regarding this situation, feelings that have been developed not on this singular instance but over tons of cases and long periods of time for those that follow racing.

The reaction has nothing to do with Gorder and everything to do with the sport.

People here that don't participate in the sport close up have had the benefit of Chuck Simon in particular attempting to educate them regarding the nuances between 'drug positives' and 'medication overages' and the unique elements of operating a public stable. I've tried to do the same in 10 years of broadcasting ATR with features like the RMTC reports and Horse Health with Dr. Allday.

There is more than enough data for people to fairly discern what is identifiable as edge-taking, outright attempts to cheat and circumstances that are readily understandable and/or logically explainable. If you're cynical, it's about you.

Apparently the guy is just really unlucky. Yeah...that's it.

I know one thing, in my business, the buck starts and stops with me. If something happens under my watch, whether I did it or not, I am the one held responsible.

In racing we want to make excuses for everything and then we wonder why bettors are angry. We wonder why bettors are fed up and then when we speak up "industry insiders" tell us how dumb we are for questioning the status quo.

Sounds like a business model that has nowhere to go but down even further.

The defense is that some was left over from antibiotic treatment of a horse earlier in the year.. not that that excuses it.

Regarding the unlabeled products (not mislabeled), acknowledge that Barbara Borden of KHRC made clear that they were legal therapeutics.

What's precious is comparing Tom Proctor's off-year 2yo record in November-December to a guy who's win rate in the 5 months preceding an investigation has plummeted in half.

Borden said the unlabeled medications found in Gorder’s barn were therapeutic medications. However, all medications in a barn must be clearly labeled under Kentucky racing rules, and only veterinarians can possess hypodermic needles.
