I wonder if Cal Chrome's connections (excluding Art) wished they stayed back home now that the "other" horse got hurt...no do-overs

i don't have statistics, but i feel like a lot of heavily favored well meant horses who have tried the classic for the big/easy money......have come out with injuries, or extended time off after the race...

Big mistake running there. As soon as they said they were going there, heads were being scratched everywhere. Couldn't someone have Tapit on their shoulder and said " bad idear"?

While I thought the decision to run there was a poor one, I don't see how that mattered in what happened. He injured himself leaving the gate.
That's just bad racing luck. He could have run at Oaklawn and had some horse clip his heels, causing him to go down, for all you know. |
