![]() You never cease to amaze me. I used to take my Dad up to Belmont for big days and Groovy was one of our favorites. Watching Groovy run was like doing some kind of drug, one big rush. We'd go up to the top of the stretch and just watch him fly through and you could almost hear him whistle as he went by. he was going so fast. He was a beautiful horse, all muscle, all speed. He only had one gear and that was full. That brings back wonderful memories. He had mind-numbing speed and as he crossed the finish line, every eye would go to the infield board and wait to see what time would come up. When the time went up, you could hear the crowd go "OOOOhhh..".
I bet that was the 1987 Vosburgh. |

![]() You know who I miss ? Cab Calloway. I went to Saratoga for years and one of my highlights was always seeing him. I absolutely loved that man.
I'm so glad they named a race after him. |

![]() BTW, my picture is of a lawn jockey at Santa Anita. I thought it was creepy and I asked around who painted them and I never found out.

![]() After the Blues Brother Movie, seeing Cab was extra special every year. Gerry Cooney too, nice man. Mayor Tom Menino too at the spa.
