AUBURN, Wash. – Emerald Downs has been sold to the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, Emerald and tribal officials announced Thursday. While no terms were revealed, the Muckleshoots will assume full control from Northwest Racing Associates, which has operated the suburban Seattle track since its opening in 1996.

I'd say in the next 3-5 years they have a state-of-the-art casino/hotel.

The city of Auburn has a moratorium on additional gaming licenses. I can't imagine they'd want to take business away from their tribal casino and move it into the city off tribal land where they'd have to pay city/state taxes etc.

But the location would be amazing if they can make it happen. My mom owns non-tribal casino in WA and when they tried to get slots and stuff it really pissed the state senate off. Senate said they don't want anymore expanded gaming. But the Muckleshoots have lots of power, so if anyone can get it done, it'd be them

The Washington Horse Racing Commission today unanimously approved a license request for Emerald Downs LLC, which is owned by the Muckleshoot Tribe, to operate Emerald Downs racetrack.


During his testimony at the meeting Phil Ziegler, President of Emerald Downs Racing LLC, announced agreements with the Northwest Racing Associates management team to remain in place and that former track President Ron Crockett has agreed to serve as a consultant.
