"With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, -- none of which I know how to work -- information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation," Obama said. Who writes this stuff? So now you can be "emancipated" -- freed from slavery -- by not being able to use your entertainment hardware that you bought? Whoever is preparing his teleprompter ought to start focusing on what these words mean instead of just how they sound when strung together. He goes on to champion education -- which of course I can agree with -- except that we know from numerous other remarks he has made that he does not want the educated people to profit from their skills. He's got to understand that the majority of Americans won't embrace Marxism no matter how much he pushes it (thank God). |
