she still gets a solid 1/3 of the vote in any nationwide election.
she plays to her base. they don't care about cribbing notes or transparently thin skin. that's all pointy headed intellectual stuff. she's a sexier spiro agnew. or george wallace without the overt racism and penis. it's the politics of resentment.
