Einstein, a five-time Grade 1 winner during a career in which he banked nearly $3 million, has been retired from racing and will stand the 2010 breeding season at Adena Springs in Paris, Ky. According to a press release from Adena, Einstein suffered a minor soft tissue injury while training for the Grade 1 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap on Feb. 6. Einstein won the Gulfstream Park Turf in 2006 and 2008.

A 7-year-old Spend a Buck horse bred in Brazil, Einstein was sold privately to Frank Stronach's Adena Spring Farm late last year. Trained throughout his career by Helen Pitts, Einstein retires with 11 victories in 30 starts and total earnings of $2,945,230. Einstein is a finalist for an Eclipse Award as the top older male in 2009. He won the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap and and the Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic at Churchill Downs last season.

"He's been wonderful to me," said Pitts. "He's a very special animal and I hope his breeding career will be just as successful as his race career was." Pitts said it was hard to single out any one highlight during Einstein's career. "The Big Cap was the only million-dollar race I won, and it was memorable because there was the question mark of going to a different surface," said Pitts. "Winning the Woodford Reserve two years in a row and being able to compete in that race four times also meant a lot to me."

Einstein's stud fee has not yet been determined.

He was a neat horse. Not the great but a real quality horse.. Stonarch will give him a shot to succeed as a stallion. He will be a third the price as Zensational and was 3 times the horse..Go figure
