I walked around and took in the city. It wasn't like I was running down an alley to find trouble either. Stick to Bourbon Street, the 'lake' front (I can't remember if it was a lake or a river) and your hotel, and you'll be fine.

I completely agree. I was actually kind of scared because of the things I read, but I really loved it. Very interesting place...and they'll throw you beads without showing your tits.
