Default Tampa Friday 1/16/09 P4

Race 7
5 Dashing Pirate 5-1 – Showing peak form and could be sitting the perfect trip behind the two speedy favorites 3rd

9 Florida Jackpot 5-2 – Homeister gets the call on the 6yo who is showing career form after being spotted over his head all Summer in Chicago; moving back up the claiming ranks, winner of 3 in a row coming in and is 8 for 10 on the board here, though not crazy about betting first off the claim from D. Bennett.

10 Touch ‘Em All 3-1 – Ness/R. Allen Jr. 29% for the meet, Ness 32% off the layoff; He’s got plenty of class but may want the front with the 9…Could set up nicely for a price WON

1 Maraquero 12-1 – Has shown he needs one off the layoff in the past and is dropping to his lowest level of his career (first open claim event in 45 starts)… Another who could run down the 9 and 10 to produce a big price in the opener

Race 8 - 5F turf Sprint with some nice contenders…

10 Charlie Papa 3-1 – Either on the lead or within a neck of 21.4/45/57.1 in the Lightning City a month back – gate to wire threat

5 Silver Envoy 7-2 – Rosemary can sit off or go with CP, trying 5F weeds for the fist time. WON

9 Bikini Atoll 9-2 – Another that flashes early speed then usually fades; Sharp works pattern and Zeweister is a magician off the layoff

6 Wild Party Girl 8-1 – Centeno/Scace and a sharp off the layoff % are enough to include. Consistent turf sprint efforts and has a nice off the pace running style to combat all the speed signed on here

Race 9

2 Fierce Wind 9-5 – Even though this has every and all makings of a trap play, I can’t leave last year’s Sam F. Davis winner off the ticket. On mothballs since the FL Derby last March, the even and methodical series of morning drills scream “I need one” but will include nonetheless. WON

7 Watzatta Bay 2-1 – Well freshened off a disappointing and trouble filled Clark Handicap, cuts back to the 1 1/16th mile where he’s only 19-7-7-1 2nd

1 Riversrunrylee 9-2 – Turf to dirt not the strongest angle for trainer Juan Canillo, but this guy has put up impressive figures at the distance and has proved he can win here – if the 2 and 7 let him get away with soft early fractions, he can wire ‘em.

6 Yes It’s Bull 5-1 – Ran a career effort last out and returns to the same distance –could steal this at a huge number 4th

Race 10

4 Mystamy 8-5 – Is it possible to single HVG and retain an ounce of street cred around here? Of course not. His third crack at this level after a troubled trip then a hung bid – looks tops in form but must use others WON

2 Mr. Georges Dreams 7-2 – Dropped to mdn 8 to breakthrough last out; Proctor 24% when won last, serious gate to wire threat

3 Hungarian Gent 4-1 – No picture for him since that fateful April Fools Day last year; The two turn experiment is over with and he just missed at 10k 2 back; Off the pace threat

Big Ticket - 1,5,9,10//5,6,9,10//1,2,6,7//2,3,4 = 192.00 97.70
Small Ticket - 1,5,9,10//10,6//1,2,7//2,3,4 = 72.00
