The omission is inadvertent, said Katherine McLane, a spokeswoman for the Department of Education, which administers the grants. “There is no explanation for it being left off the list,” Ms. McLane said. “It has always been an eligible major.”

Another spokeswoman, Samara Yudof, said evolutionary biology would be restored to the list, but as of last night it was still missing.


Well I assure plenty of people will get it restored. Hopefully a clerical error. If not, not terribly suprising what some folks try to pull off. On this issue the Republican Religious right has led the party into very shallow water. George Will is one of the few Republicans that actually speaks up about this and basically says it is stupidity for the Republican party to have anything like this and has also said it is absolute stupidity to have creationsism in a SCIENCE classroom. So the party is not all nutty.
