Boise to Phoenix is under 1000 miles and it's half the distance of Columbus to Phoenix.
Boise to Pheonix is farther than Chicago to NY. It is real hard to make a case that proximity is a reason to choose Boise. Maybe they think Boise's fans are more apt to make the trip being that they are new to the big bowl game thing?
