The really good ones will still retire especially if Darley wants them but maybe some of the others will develop as 4 and 5 year olds. It wont happen overnight but the other development that will affect the stallion market is synthetic surfaces. No one really has any idea yet about what bloodlines will be considered synthetic but the fact that CA, Canada, KY's only A meet, AP, Presque Isle, etc are on synthetics will lower the demand for strictly dirt sires and open the doors for other lines, at least in theory.

does darley race all their stock? you see them buy, but do they ever sell? of course their sires are available to outside breeders...but thinking of them made me wonder.
but yeah, back when real quiet and silver charm ran at four, the breeding market was on a downturn. one certainly has to do with the other. seems this bubble has finally burst as well.
