79 offerings from his crop through yearling sales - only two brought six figures - and that one was by far the most expensive. I was wrong though - I didn't think Saarland would throw one horse worth a damn. This filly is obviously very nice. I remember when Victory U.S.A (who cost a mere 525K) handily won her debut at Del Mar in near track record time - with Mike Smith pumping his fist and showboating before the wire. It was 6 lengths back to eventual two-year-old Grade 1 winning filly Hollywood Story in 2nd. Victory USA's freshman sire at the time, Victory Gallop, now stands in Turkey. One nice debut winner does not make a crop or sire - and this was BY FAR Saarland's most expensive yearling. |
