GBB,
I stayed at some boutique hotel downtown for one night last year. Didn't care for it. If your work is near the aiirport, there are all the usuals there. Woodbine is 10-15 minutes from the airport and is a real nice place to spend a couple hours, especially on a Wednesday when they run at night. If you are there over a weekend and feeling especially esoteric, there is a little quarter horse track 1/2 hour outside the city called Ajax Downs that is pretty different and fun.
