Very simple ...

... there no longer is any such thing as a handicap race.

There once was a time ... when Bold Ruler was asked to give 25 pounds over 10f to a multiple G1 winner (Clem) ... and 36 pounds to a multiple G1-winning mare (Dotted Line) ... and he did it ... and won! Now that was a handicap.

But those days are long gone.

Today a "handicap" means the "highweight" carries 118 pounds and the "low weight" carries 114.

Still calling races "handicaps" is both a joke and ... an insult to our intelligence.
