RUFFIAN was the only one that gave me chills when she walked out of her stall in the morning.

She was the finest race horse I have ever seen since 1946 when I became a race track brat at the age of 8.

Maybe you didn't know this ... but ...

... she did it all with batteries.

But seriously ... there never was a more physically imposing filly than Ruffian ... very tall but not at all delicate ... and that shiny black coat glowed in the sunlight.

She was an unfulfilled dream ... like Hail To Reason, Hoist The Flag, Graustark. We'll sadly never know just how great a race horse she was.
