1. Don't call the other guy's insurance company. They won't respond.
2. Don't call the guy. He won't respond.
3. DO call your insurance agent ASAP. Get them started on helping you file a claim.
4. DO take pictures of your damage and, if possible, the location of the accident and the other guy's car.
5. DO try to push back the effective date of your new coverage. Assuming you were covered by yor "old" insurance carrier when the accident occurred, they will be more helpful to an existing customer than a former client.
6. In the future, keep a cheap single use camera (with flash) in your vehicle. When you're in an accident snap off the entire roll. $5 well spent.
