Default Handicapping Kentucky Downs

I'm trying to figure out this track, have not placed a bet here yet. I'm really a lot better at dirt routes and tend to avoid betting on turf races but am trying to improve at this.

Based on watching all of the races there Saturday and today and various other races other days, it seems to me like if a horse doesn't look like they're about to win at the 1/4 pole, they won't make up enough ground late to win, almost like, with few exceptions, the final 8th doesn't matter. Despite the tremendously long stretch, horses seem to hit a wall up that stretch hill that allows front runners/stalkers to hold on somewhat but doesn't allow come from behinders to close fast in the stretch, especially if they come wide and the further back/wider they come from the worse off they end up, regardless of early pace.

There is a fairly significant correlation among "horses for the course" here but since this track runs so infrequently this isn't much of a useful angle.

Any other thoughts, ideas on how to pick winners at this track? Obviously horses who run on/near the pace or at least midpack early, but which ones, like which other tracks/trainers/scenarios best match up with this one to use for pps?
