![]() I've always loved figuring out the derivation of names that owners give their horses. There are several on today's contest card that I found especially interesting or amusing:
Front End the Fed (Race 5): Sounds like something that could cause a securities trader lots of trouble with the SEC. Stare Decisis (Race 6): Undoubtedly named by an attorney who had some extra money to invest in thorobreds. Buy Land and See (Race 9): Very clever play on the phrase "by land and sea". Perhaps the name is the answer to the question "is it possible to make money by investing in real estate?" Will Sing For Wine (Race 1): The way I sing, it should be just the opposite. Tappanzee (Race 10): Some day (but not today) this filly will be a heavy favorite, leading to all sorts of bridgejumper jokes. Last edited by JolyB : 10-26-2019 at 11:16 AM. |
