Apalachee was indeed a miler at most in his brief career, I believe going four for five. His sire record was also mostly short distance, but man, being by Round Table, I think it was reasonable to expect more distance out of him. Moccasin was a speed influence no doubt, but I still found it pretty surprising how Apalachee turned out.

Indian Charlie himself, he would have had no issues staying a classic distance had he been sound. I believe he mostly sired shorter distanced horses due to the types of mares that were bred to him through most of his stallion career.

The mares he got for maybe that first eight to ten years were mostly dreadful.
