it began during the civil war...and was originally called 'decoration day' as they used that day to visit the graves, lay flowers, etc.
it became part of the 'lost cause' movement in the south.

'all gave some, some gave all'
many thanks to the men and women who fought for this country, whether their leaders cause was just or not.

may our government in future not resort to using their greatest weapon unless and until it is absolutely necessary. they ask for much, and it should be for much.
and may they also use this day as a reminder that they are coming up short in the treatment of those who return less than when they went to war.
