Default Back on the Turf at the Big A

Well, the inner track may start Wednesday, now that the good weather is finally here, but the fourth race will be run on the real " inner " course.....the turf!

If we get no rain and the temperature stays above freezing I would say we can get a week or two of at least one turf race a day. Staves off winter for at least a few days.

In light of the immense interest shown in this thread I wanted to add that there are TWO turf races scheduled for Thursday.

Are we excited or WHAT??????????

Sorry for not commending this post.
I was indeed excited to read it, and to hear this great news.
In the past we've had some nice Decembers and I felt that they stopped turf racing way too early just because of the calendar.
Do it like they do in Maryland, just keep running until you can't anymore regardless of what the calendar says.

Inner-track and turf? What's wrong with this picture?

welcome to the wonderful world of global warming....it no longer freezes in the NE until after new years....which in VT just means an extended muddy grey season

I am the biggest fan of Global Warming there is. There are some positives to it. Longer growing season, shorts in December, etc.....

And I thought closing my pool on Halloween was crazy, I think our "real" winter weather will come when we suppose to have our January thaw

See I'm not joking. I genuinely think Global Warming can be seen as a plus....Some negatives but not enough to outweigh the positives.

I agree Randy.

the warmer the better.
dont know how you northeastern US residents stand the winters.

anyway,
thats probably the single best thing about Fairgrounds.
turf racing in the dead of winter.
