"The awards keep coming in for the blue-collar worker Rapid Redux, who won his 22nd straight race Jan. 5. A day after it was announced that the 5-year-old chestnut would receive the Special Eclipse Award for his accomplishments in 2011, he was named winner of the Secretariat Vox Populi Award."

Here's something Freddy - one seat at the bar at Laurel. RC walks in with his girlfriend and proceeds to take the seat, leaving his girlfriend to stand.

Now if that doesn't get you fired up.....

I thought this line was interesting...

If NYRA could somehow lure Rapid Redux away from the mid-Atlantic tracks to race at Aqueduct, it would sure spice up the winter.

NYRA doesn't write 5K starter alw races.

And if they did, the only way it would fill is if all shippers enter.

I suppose if they wanted to try -- they could write a $7,500 non-time restricted starter alw race -- and offer weight breaks down to horses who've started for less before.

Make the purse 50K. Get horses who've started for 5K a good weight break via the conditions. Ask the connections which distance they want the race at (probably 8fs) and you'd possibly have him there for it...even though it's doubtful he'd be able to win such a race.

I suppose it could spice up a weekday card and make for a fun betting race... but I don't exactly think getting RR to race in NY is high on the priority list yet.

It's not.

And in other news, Rapid Redux is being laid up for the winter.

RAPID REDUX
In 2011 Rapid Redux became the toast of the racing world, setting a a modern-era record of 22 consecutive wins by a U.S. horse and tied the great Citation with 19 wins in a single season. His athletic accomplishments and immense popularity merited the 2011 Secretariat "Vox Populi" Award for the chestnut gelding, securing his place in racing history and in the hearts of fans of all ages.

Acclaimed equine artist Jaime Corum captures Rapid Redux in a stunning classic portrait of the "people's champ," wearing his familiar and distinctive green bridle and shadow roll. Like his celebrated great, great-grandfather Secretariat, Rapid Redux carries the alert expression and intelligent eye that often coincides with courageous heart demonstrated on the racetrack. Honoring this royal lineage, a small remarque of the 1973 Triple Crown winner adorns the lower left corner of the print.

Each collectible print is signed by the artist, and as Secretariat.com SIGNATURE SPECIAL, comes triple hand-signed by the Rapid Redux's owner Robert L. Cole Jr., trainer David Wells, and "The First Lady of Racing," Penny Chenery at no extra charge!. Measures 11" x 14" and printed on heavy art stock.

Availability: Usually ships in 5-7 business days

$40.00
