Default Lone speed

Let me say, this has to be the worst part of my capping. If I think lone speed will hold up, it doesn't. And when I think it won't, it does. I've gotten to where I won't touch a speed horse, whether I think they are lone speed or not. I've got burned so many times playing it, then it not holding.

But now I'm getting burned doing the opposite. Any suggestions on what to look for? Any angles you guys use to determine if it will hold or not? It just seems it doesn't matter how fast or slow the front times are, I'm always on the wrong end. Help, I'm confused!! Thanks
