Default 7/10: BEL (7-10); MTH (6-11); CRC (5-11); HOL ($99k C/O)

Summer racing season moves to the penultimate weekend at Hollywood and Belmont with hearts and minds already shifting towards Del Mar (7/21 opening) and Saratoga (7/23 opening). But before California racing moves south and New York heads north, there are a few important G1 stakes to run like today's Triple Bend and Gold Cup at Inglewood and the Man o' War at Elmont. Over and above the major circuit action Saturday is Calder's highly successful Summit of Speed; a concept created by the late and legendary Bobby Umphrey that brings together a conclave of sprinters from all divisions. I'm attending my 4th straight Summit, as the afternoon at utilitarian Calder has become one of my favorite race days of the year. And at Delaware Park, the run up to their big Delaware Handicap Day a week from now starts with the 3yo girls taking the spotlight in the Oaks which lured Blind Luck. Finally, Monmouth's feature is the last Haskell prep in the Long Branch, and exciting Trappe Shot has an opportunity to add his name to the growing list of second season sophomore stars. Should be a great afternoon of racing action!

Like your selects at CRC, Steve. I really like Rapport and D'Funnybone today. Causeway's Kin has a real shot at a price. Also, Warbling in the 11th.

Looking forward to the Frank Gomez Memorial. An outstanding trainer and a force to be reckoned with on the South Florida circuit for a long time.

I won't be able to make it to the races today, but GL and enjoy South Florida's humidity.

Keith,

Thanks and BOL today! I had the opportunity to meet and speak to Gomez twice the winter/spring Rehoboth was a sophomore. A lovely guy, a gentleman, and so widely respected and well liked. Leaving shortly for CRC, and looking forward as always to the great day of racing.

jms/Chuck,

Thanks very much! Had a great time at Calder seeing tons of friends and enjoying the races. Had some really good looks throughout the day and excellent runs at Belmont and Calder. Would have liked to close out the MTH 5 though. Tina and I shopped for her birthday in Boca after, and are having dinner at Anthony's in Delray now.

Looking forward to the HollyPark carryover tomorrow as well as the World Cup final, and have a spot on HRTV Raceday America at 12:30 or so too.

Hope everybody did well today!
