DTS, Becky is very sharp and very shrewd at getting her stallions over there.
NY contains almost predominantly cheap speed sires as of right now. Hes the kind of horse who is sure to attract attention at that stud fee, esepcially with the type of stamina his offspring should have.
Its also a wise idea to stand a stallion in an area of the country where he accomplished the most, the breeders in that state are more likely to receive a horse well if they saw him run well there.
Ten Most's two most impressive efforts occurred in NY, his 2nd to Empire Maker in the Belmont and his win in the Travers.
Becky has a stallion show at her place in February where when you sign up as you enter, they have you fill out an entry slip with your name and address. After they show each stallion, they draw a name and that person gets a free breeding to the stallion just shown.
Last year I went with a friend and won the drawing for Good and Tough, which I never used.
You can bet I will show up again this year and try and win one to Ten Most Wanted. Maybe I'll see you there.

the stamina type sires in NY don't seem to be real popular with the breeders. Key Contender, Comeonmom, Raffies Majesty, Mighty Magee, to name some, they just do not get the solid mares yet still produce.

Wheelaway is the exception, he gets a lot of mares.

he's got no winners yet from his first crop of 2 yr olds. 7 runners and about $18k in total earnings.

I never had much hope that Ten Most Wanted or his sire would stay in KY for very long. For those of you who know me well, I have a relationship with Ten Most Wanted's connections while he was racing and he was somewhat of a hard sell to the big farms in KY, even with his accomplishments.

With that said, if you have a mare with strong lines of La Troienne and some real speed to her, she might do well with him. Otherwise, he doesnt excite me too much.

I personally think it sucks but that would be because he's not going to be a 45min drive from me anymore. Realistically I know it's a great move for him though I'll just miss him, alot.

Thumbs up

He has 5 lines of La Troienne, including his bottom line. He has 11 reines de course in his first 5 gens. imo he would cross well with Secretariat cuz he has a Sir Gaylord. imo a Nearctic cross would be dynamite. i'm seeing a Nearctic cross in a lot of successful runners lately, including Langfuhr, for example.
he is just short of 2 million $$$...

WELCOME TO NY TEN MOST WANTED...you are WANTED here...

I'm totally with you, Sumitas.
I'm thinking Darbay would be good for him, just because of the line to Alydar.
Bourbon Streettune is La Troienne in 7,8,and 9 generations, so she would be good also. We'll see.

Huh? TMW shouldn't have any foals of racing age yet. His babies should be debuting next year..

Ateam,
I could be wrong but I think Sumitas is talking about Wheelaway (McMahon of Saratoga). He has a mare, Lizoranet, that's in foal to him.

not only was TMW a serious g1 winning 10 furlong horse on the track, but he is by deputy commander and out of a criminal type mare, and they were both also serious g1 winners at 10 furlnogs. TMW is a true classic distance horse from both sides of his pedigree and should be a good distance sire.
i think the fact that he has no bold ruler in him makes him an even more intriguing sire prospect.
