His lifelong best friend died in Chicago. He is there for the funeral and to be with his friend's family.

I was wondering about this, he annouced the scratches/changes on Saturday or Sunday (I don't remember which) and then Johnny I started announcing and has been since. My sympathies to Durkin.

Sympthaties to Tom.
He will be back for Travers Day. There is no way Imbriale would be allowed to call that day. Technically John is a good caller but his voice is very monotone and depressing. I feel like I am watching Aqueduct on a Wednesday in January when I hear his calls.

LOL, you know I love Aqueduct Inner! Seriously, John Imbriale is calling races at the greatest venue in horse racing and it sounds like he it is a big chore for him. "And they're off." You'd think he could get a little more enthused. While Durkin has lost a lot of his technical skill, he still has the greatest voice in the business.
